Everything about Vale Of York Uk Parliament Constituency totally explained
Vale of York is a
constituency represented in the
House of Commons of the
Parliament of the United Kingdom. It elects one
Member of Parliament (MP) by the
first past the post system of election.
Boundaries
This constituency covers the
Vale of York and includes the north western suburbs of
York and the market towns of
Easingwold,
Bedale,
Boroughbridge and
Thirsk.
The seat was formed in
1997 from parts of the old
Ryedale, Harrogate,
Skipton & Ripon and
Richmond constituencies.
The reconfiguration of North Yorkshire's constituencies by the
Boundary Commission for England has seen the creation of a
York Central and a
York Outer. This will see the Vale of York constituency abolished. The populous York suburbs will become part of York Outer.
Easingwold,
Thirsk and surrounding villages will join rural Ryedale to form a new
Thirsk and Malton constituency. Bedale will rejoin the Richmond constituency.
Boroughbridge will become part of an enlarged Harrogate seat, while Skipton & Ripon will regain some of the surrounding villages. The enlarged
Selby and Ainsty seat will now encompass
Marston Moor and
Spofforth.
